Inspired by Dahl
As this year we are celebrating one hundred years of Roald Dahl our weekly house activity sessions are based on his characters and stories. We have been filling the BFG's dream jars with our relaxation exercises, using role play to become the competitors for the Golden Tickets from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, singing along to Matilda and making up new, BFG-like words in literacy.
The children had great fun drawing their very own "Fantastic Mr Fox" illustrations and designs for new Wonka chocolate bars. Scratch programs on the computer helped the children to create their own Roald Dahl information boards whilst other groups were composing songs for musical versions of the stories. After weeks of investigation our "Knowledge of Dahl" was put to the test in the Roald Dahl quiz.
Our research into the world of Dahl reminded us all just what an incredible children's writer he was. We all have our favourite Dahl character - who is yours?
